“Our walk is devastating, not natural. Little babies have shoes like cement boots. Our feet are ruined from the first step we take in shoes.”
- Tom Brown, Jr

We’ve all heard about the women who wear high-heels so much they can’t put their feet flat on the ground. Shoes effect our body and the way we walk in more ways than we realise. According to Tom Brown, shoes teach us how to walk incorrectly. When we walk barefoot, we naturally adopt a different step, checking the ground is ok before we put our foot flat. This is what Mr Brown calls “Fox Walking”.

For us civilised walkers, also called cow walking, we need to teach ourselves how to fox walk. Watch the handy guide below to bring out the fox in you.
